First Destination Survey Outcomes
The First Destination Survey is an annual, online survey instrument that aims to gather post-graduation plans from both undergraduate and graduate students. This survey initiative is aligned with the National Association of Colleges and Employers. We work closely with all the colleges and the Associate Deans Council to collect data. The pilot survey launched during the 2015-2016 year collecting data on graduates between August 2015 and June 2016. UNC Charlotte has a customized process that incorporates many of the graduation survey needs of various colleges, programs and majors alongside the NACE standard questions.
Student Career Interests
Career communities move students toward an industry-specific thinking rather than major-specific, allowing them to broaden their career concepts. All students who use our Hire-A-Niner platform are invited to select into career communities that they are interested in, regardless of their major.
In addition to classroom instruction and engagement with on-campus activities students can also engage in formal experiential experiences such as internships, co-ops or student teaching to deepen their exploration of their major and their eventual career interest.
Career services is an intergral part of the student development process and we encourage all students to utilize the University Career Center as often as possible throughout their career at UNC Charlotte and beyond.
Career Branding Feedback from Employers
In an effort to align our career guidance for students to the needs of employers we periodically survey recruiters to get their perspective on various aspects of the student branding package, ranging from resume content to interviewing strategies.
