Career Treks

Career Center Treks

The Career Center will host Career Treks in both fall and spring semesters to a variety of host companies and organizations.

Partnership Tier

If a Career Trek sounds like a great fit for your department but you’d like to leave the planning and coordination of the event to the Career Center, consider partnering with us to create and implement your ideal event.

The Partnership Tier allows UNC Charlotte faculty/staff to work with the Career Center team on any or all of the following Trek components:

  • Determine which type of Trek is the best fit for your department (Destination/Industry/Individual)
  • Communicate with potential hosts companies/organizations
  • Assist with the development of the Trek agenda
  • Market the Career Trek to pre-determined student population
  • Provide transportation* (partial funding and coordination of transportation)
  • Provide thank you gift for host employer

Contact Lori Brasile, Assistant Director for Career Treks, to discuss next steps.

Consulting Tier

The Consulting Tier encourages UNC Charlotte faculty and staff to host their own Career Trek for a targeted group of students. The Career Center will serve as a “consultant” throughout the planning process.

Faculty and staff will pre-determine the host employer and communicate with the host, working with the employer to develop an agenda for the Trek and gather logistical details to share with student participants. Faculty/staff are responsible for obtaining appropriate transportation to provide student participants (*partial funding and coordination of transportation may be available through the University Career Center).

The Career Center will support faculty/staff with the following for the “Consulting Tier”:

  • Provide faculty/staff member with a comprehensive “How to Career Trek” guide with    step-by-step directions about how to plan for, organize, and execute a Career Trek
  • Assist faculty/staff member with the marketing of the Career Trek to targeted student    audience via Hire-A-Niner emails
  • Market Career Trek to student population via Career Center social media outlets
  • Provide faculty/staff member with a thank you gift for host employer
