Career Assessments

The University Career Center invites you to partner with us in providing career assessments to your students in your classroom settings. The following four assessments can benefit students in a variety of ways and be more beneficial at certain levels of career development. After reading the descriptions of each assessment, you can schedule a classroom presentation with a Career Center staff member by filling out the Presentation Request Form. If you have any questions about any of these assessments and which might be most appropriate for your students, please connect with Dr. Suzanne Voigt, svoigt@uncc.edu.

jobZology

The jobZology assessment focuses on personality, interests, values, and workplace preferences. Considering the overlap in all four of these areas, individuals are able to better understand majors and careers that could be a good fit for them. This assessment is self-exploratory but also can be incorporated into classroom presentations, given by a Career Center staff member. Recommended Class Level: Appropriate for all Undergraduates and Graduate Students.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator examines individuals’ personalities and how they complement or conflict with certain work environments, leadership roles, overall communication, and relationships. This assessment is provided to students only through classroom presentations led by a Career Center staff member. Recommended Class Level: Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students.

Skill Scan

The Skill Scan card-sort assessment is a tool that helps individuals identify their transferrable and preferential skills, utilized in and outside of particular work environments. This assessment helps individuals learn how to voice their skills on their resumes, cover letters, and in interview settings. This assessment is provided to students only through classroom presentations (35 student limit) led by a Career Center staff member. Recommended Class Level: Appropriate for all Undergraduates and Graduate Students.

CliftonStrengths for Students

The CliftonStrengths for students is a timed assessment which examines individuals’ top five strengths in relation to the overall 34 strength areas. Strengths assist individuals in better understanding how their talents inform their ability to communicate, influence and work with others, lead teams and build relationships in a work environment. This assessment is provided to students only through classroom presentations led by a Career Center staff member. Recommended Class Level: Juniors, Seniors and Graduate Students.
