Career Advisor
Alexander 'A.J.' Simmons earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Sociology and a certification in crime and deviance from Virginia Tech. Currently, A.J. is a graduate student in the Community Psychology program at UNC Charlotte, as well as serving as a Career Advisor for students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Employing a collaborative approach, A.J. works to enhance the campus community experience by bolstering the Peer Career Ambassador (PCA) program within the University Career Center.  A.J. facilitates trainings, meetings and fun activities so that PCA's can act as advocates for students in their professional development.

It is his aim to learn the principles of community-building, empower individuals, strengthen community bonds, and change the systems that obstruct the well-being of communities. In his free time he strives to achieve these realizations by mentoring young men with The Males Place nonprofit organization, representing the Seeds for Change Initiative as the Farm Coordinator and acting as Creative Visualization Officer with the lifestyle brand, The Gold Effect, LLC.
